Round Two.

The wind eased off as the tide came in so I packed up and headed home and waited for the tide to drop again. Steve turned up, we had a cuppa then headed down to the beach just as the wind went ballistic.

Impi and AndyW were there too and Dave and Sarah were just getting off the water. Impi was in the process of rigging a 6.4 but soon changed his mind and went for something smaller.

Andy went for a 4.5m, Steve rigged a 5.3m but as the wind really filled in changed to a 4m.

Impi and I ended up on our small speed kit, Fanatic Falcon Speed boards and 5.2m sails. This seemed far too much so I watched for a little bit and saw Impi and Andy struggling out there. Impi did go for one speed run so I decidd to go for it and join them.

The water was white with chop and spray and bearing away was pretty scary, but I was up around 30 knots on my first run, and once again soon hit 36 knots. Steve was struggling to keep control even with his 4m and with his wave kit wasn't getting any decent speeds. Impi had only managed 30 knots to start with due to the scary conditions but after hearing my 36 knot target soon put in a run that matched it.

None of us had many runs though as the conditions were just too hectic. Flatter water, more room or slightly less wind would have been ideal, but it was good fun anyway! I'm not really sure how I hing onto a 5.2m in those conditions but it didn't feel too bad once I was actually up and sailing. Starting off and stopping was a different matter though!
